Global help so kids don't have to swim to school

Per Arnulfo B. Pierra Jr, Co-Lead Implementor Cebu Funds For Little Kids & YBH Week Without Walls and Cebu Funds for Little Kids:

Together volunteers from Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation and 6 members of CIS community went to Bantayan last weekend to turn over boats to local island communities (Botong Island and Panangatan Island). The idea behind is get students to school dry and safe. This year’s donors and sponsors are the Cebu International School students and teachers, Fillmore Elementary School- California USA, British School Montevideo-Uruguay, Better World Singapore International Foundation, Tohoku International School- Sendai Japan, Bag 943, Tzu Chi Foundation and ZF Tribe.

The international involvement was the result of the organization CISL- Cooperative of International Service Learning which was started as a CIS initiative. CISL’s main objective is to involve international schools in authentic community service. This year’s boats were painted by CIS MHS students during the Week Without Walls. Our Grade 3 students teamed up with the Grade 3 Fillmore Elementary students in California and wrote inspirational messages sent from the US on to the boat.

The boats were turned over during a ceremony at Suba Barangay Hall with about 200 local students and parents. It was both touching and inspiring and we hope to continue our collaboration with this great organization for many years to come as part of fulfilling our mission of making a positive impact on this changing world.

In behalf of the YBH foundation, thank you very much to all who supported this project. Looking forward to a sustainable service with the swimming students of Bantayan Island.
