A lot of exciting activity the last couple of months at Isla Pulo Yellow Boat Community, says Chenille Bernardo Masangya, Lead Implementor – Navotas Funds for Little Kids. And the chief beneficiaries are the students of Tanza Elementary School.
“Residents from Isla Pulo,” he says, “especially the first 10 beneficiaries wanted me to send to the sponsors their thanks for giving them new yellow boats which they use for fishing, for gathering water, and for giving their children free rides to and from school. They were very thankful for they were able to increase their income. Some are now earning 500-1500 pesos per day. Some of the first 10 beneficiaries are now actually making ways to sustain their livelihood more by purchasing motors for their boats.”
Over a period of weeks, residents received help from a feeding program, mangrove planting, coastal cleanup, gift giving, followed by yellow boats, fishing nets, grocery packs, school bags and school supplies.
